Our Language Concept

In the accadis Bilingual Preschool, the children learn and play bilingually from the very start. Each mixed-age group is looked after by two educators - one English-speaking and one German-speaking. The promotion of linguistic expression and communicative knowledge is based on the immersion method.

Daisy Groups (2 – 3 years)

We focus on promoting the independence of our youngest children. Increasingly, they learn to take care of themselves, to get dressed and to use the toilet. Fine motor skills are promoted when working in small groups, for example, the correct pencil grip, handling of scissors and crafting skills. Of course, gross motor skills are also fostered. They are developed further during structured activities in the gym and also during free play outside.

Sunflower Groups (3 – 5 years)

The children are becoming progressively more independent and can now do many things on their own. We offer various projects throughout the year and prepare the children for the Primary Class of our Elementary School. They learn first letters, numbers, songs and rhymes and do arts and crafts independently. The educational areas of the accadis ISB Preschool are based on the Hessian Education and Development Plan and the British Early Learning Goals.

Daily schedule

From 07:45 hrs the children may already be dropped off in Preschool. They move to their individual groups at 08:15 hrs, where they engage in free play, until all children have arrived by 09:00 hrs. We then close the doors and start the morning circle in our groups. Afterwards we have a healthy, sugar-free breakfast.
We now start with different activities which vary from day to day and from group to group, including crafts, music, sports and outdoor activities.
After lunch, the younger children take a nap, while the older children have a short rest and may then play outside.
At 15:15 hrs the regular part of our daily routine ends. The children may stay in Childcare until 17:00 hrs or attend a specific afternoon activity, which parents select for the duration of the semester from our varied programme.

The transition from Preschool to Elementary School

Primary Class – from the age of 5

The transition from Preschool to Elementary School is an important milestone. In our bilingual Primary Class, the children not only learn letters and numbers, but also continue to develop their social skills as well as nurture their creativity and curiosity. With improved fine and gross motor skills and new knowledge they are ready to join Grade 1 well prepared.
