The project "#TogetherForStudents – We support students in HG” initiated by the city of Bad Homburg was launched this week. The digital platform supports students in learning from home.

Due to the closure of schools in the wake of the Corona pandemic, students also face great challenges. They have lost the usual support by their teachers.

In order to help Bad Homburg's students, the Bad Homburg city management has launched the online platform "TogetherForStudents – We support students in HG" together with accadis Bildung GmbH. Using the platform, students receive free support with questions about school learning material. The offer covers almost all subjects - across all levels and school types.

"Doing homework, learning vocabulary, preparing for exams - all this is currently taking place under difficult conditions. In the present time we all have to temporarily take different approaches. The digital platform 'Together for Students’ offers students in Bad Homburg the opportunity to obtain answers to individual school questions quickly and easily. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Christoph Kexel and all the volunteers for their commitment," says Mayor Alexander Hetjes.

"We wanted to do something to help Bad Homburg's students through the crisis as well and to support the parents at home a little. That's when we came up with the idea of a digital platform that would allow students to ask questions on various subjects and get quick help from experts," says city manager Tatjana Baric, who initiated and leads the project.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Kexel, Managing Partner of accadis Bildung GmbH, was heavily involved in the implementation and technical development of the project. "On the one hand, there are many students who currently have to work on their lessons alone or with the help of their parents. On the other hand, there are now many students who would like to do voluntary work. That's why I was immediately enthusiastic about the idea of a digital platform to support the students and immediately got down to the technical implementation of the site," says Prof. Dr. Christoph Kexel.

Over 30 tutors already found

The platform lives from a committed community. Volunteer tutors offer their help and answer students' questions. This is how Prof. Dr. Christoph Kexel was able to quickly win over members of the Rotary Club Bad Homburg-Schloss as well as students and lecturers from accadis Hochschule for the project. In the meantime, more than 30 tutors have already registered. Before volunteers are set up on the platform, the platform's organizational team conducts an aptitude check to verify the specialist qualifications of the helpers.
