Read on accadis! Also in the second week of the Literacy Month, the accadis ISB students dived into the world of reading. From author readings via designing book covers to a literary pyjama party, there was something for every bookworm.
Exciting reading contest
Especially for our Grade 3 and 4 students the second week was exciting. In a reading competition they competed against each other and presented their favorite books.
At the same time, the Grade 1 students showed the Preschool children how well they can already read. In small groups they read children's books.
Author Corinna Harder as a guest
With childrens and youth author Corinna Harder, during the reading many astute Elementary School shrewed detectives set off in a "fabulously tricky" manner into the world of riddles. Corinna Harder presented her book series "black stories JUNIOR, tricky riddle-based stories" to the students.
Reading in pyjamas
Wearing pyjamas and playing with cuddly toys at school? This is quite normal during the Literacy Month :-). Our Grade 1 students made themselves comfortable in pyjamas in the classroom with blankets, pillows, and cuddly toys for the reading-focused afternoon.
Black out poems
During the second week of the Literacy Month, the Secondary School students pulled out felt-tip pens and highlighters to lyrically edit book pages. For the "black out poems", they deleted words and sentences from a page until there were only a few words left that resulted in short poems or verses. In this manner they learned to play with the written word and to have the courage to develop it further.
New reading adventures
Also in the third week of the Literacy Month there will be a varied program waiting for our students. During an Astrid Lindgren presentation by teacher Cornelia Enste they will get to know the colorful world of Pippi Longstocking. Creative minds will craft bookmarks and adventure lovers will go on a literary scavenger hunt. A special highlight will be the visit of Major Mustard.
We'll stay excited and read, read, read!
