Under the motto #weareaccadis and with lots of movement, accadis ISB students from Grades 1 to 12 started the new school year. In 14 sporty activities, they got to know each other better and strengthened the community.
Working in a team and trusting each other
Immediately after homeroom time, which is the organizational start to the day, the children let off steam on the sports field. The activities were designed for team building and to foster trust amongst the group. The students played football, tug-of-war as well as Four Connect. Highly motivated, they also competed in the classic wheelbarrow race and the "flying carpet" game. To win the latter, they crossed an area on a sports mat without touching the ground with their bodies. They then turned their attention to creative, collaborative painting and completed a challenge in which they guided a blindfolded partner only with words.
The Primary classes also dedicated the morning to sports, games and fun in the playground and on the Red Pitch.
Older students develop team leadership skills
The older students took on much responsibility. Students in Grades 11 and 12 were team leaders and explained the games to their younger school mates.
Students in Grades 5-10 acted as buddies to support the Elementary School students when they needed help, guiding them to the sports field and back to their classrooms after the games.
Elementary School Coordinator Damir Dzafic, Dr. Stefan Wolkenfeld, Secondary School Coordinator, and Darryl Cormier, Athletics Director had organized the team building event jointly. They are very pleased with how it went and proud of their students' teamworking skills.
