As a graduate of the first accadis ISB IB class, Lena
Knackstedt has answered our questions. How did she feel about her time in the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme? What did she particularly like?
What challenges did she have to face? And what will happen after school?
Which IB subject was your favorite and why?
If I had to decide, I would
probably choose German and Business Management. The readings we read in our
German course were all interesting, and I really enjoyed working and discussing
the key topics together. I only got to know Business Management in the IB
because we hadn't had the subject in previous years, but I enjoyed getting to
know the various business functions.
What was the biggest challenge for you as you prepared
for your final exams?
Time management was definitely the
biggest challenge while I was preparing for the final exams. We had to learn
two to three papers each for six subjects. Finding the right balance between
the individual subjects was very difficult. Preparing for some subjects, such
as biology and history, was more time-consuming for me than for English, for
example. Nevertheless, it is important not to neglect any subject.
What advantages do you see in the IB program?
The international orientation of
the program allows students from all over the world to work and communicate
with each other, because all IB students experience the same thing and know how
strenuous and challenging the IB is. IB students learn through the high demands
of the program to plan their time better and use it more effectively, which
prepares them well for possible study. The program also gives me the
opportunity to study anywhere in the world, as the IB is recognized worldwide.
What do you think is necessary to successfully
complete the IB program?
In my opinion, successful IB
students should be disciplined, but also curious and committed. Since the IB is
so diverse because of the wide choice of subjects, but also because of the
additional social, creative and sports lessons that every student has to take,
it is important to be open to everything. IB students should also be able to
question information and look at problems from different perspectives.
What do you do after graduation? We have heard that you jump and
dressage in your spare time. Should your career also be in this direction?
I will start studying at the
Frankfurt School of Finance and Management at the end of August. I decided to
study business in Frankfurt, because I found business management very
interesting as an IB course, and I can imagine going in this direction
professionally as well. Jumping and dressage is a hobby of mine and I don't
think I want to make it my profession. For me riding is a great balance to
everyday stress.
Dear Lena Knackstedt, thank
you very much for the interesting interview.
