accadis ISB is located in Bad Homburg, close to the financial metropolis Frankfurt am Main and picturesquely on the Taunushang (Taunus slope). For families there are numerous exciting, relaxing and interesting excursion destinations in the region such as the Lochmühle, the Hessenpark or the Saalburg.

Lochmühle – fun with trampoline, pony riding and giant slide

As a former grain mill in Wehrheim, the Lochmühle offers numerous attractions suitable for children without the long queues known from larger amusement parks. The focus of the approximately 100 rides is on small children and elementary school students, but teenagers also have fun with trampolines, paddle boats and pedal helicopters. Among the most popular attractions for older children are the giant slide and the small rollercoaster “Eichhörnchenbahn”. In addition, there are petting zoos with local animals from ponies to freshly hatched chicks and many meadows for romping around as well as barbecue areas for resting and refortifying oneself. Families which like to spend their leisure time close to nature are in good hands at Lochmühle.

Opening hours: 30 March to 13 October from 09:00 to 18:00 hrs

While strolling through the park, visitors of all ages playfully learn how people in Hessia lived and worked from the 17th century to the 1980s. In the half-timbered houses, stables and barns, on meadows and pastures, families discover living, craft, agricultural and domestic work and early mechanization. On the market square, numerous shops offer regional products made in the traditional way.

On the traces of the ancient Romans in the Saalburg

Excursions families Taunus saalburg

Another classic excursion destination in the Taunus region is Saalburg Castle in Bad Homburg. The Romans guarded a section of the Limes, the border of their empire, at the fort 2000 years ago. Families with older children stroll through the ruins of a Roman village, discover reconstructed sanctuaries and the venerable fort. Saalburg Castle tells the story of the lives of Roman soldiers and villagers on the border with the Germanic Empire. Numerous finds of iron, glass, ceramics and bronze bring the past to life. In the museum café, Roman cooking specialities await you alongside contemporary dishes. Via the Saalburg Circular Route (“Rundweg Saalburg”), families can reach a section of the Limes and old monuments.

Opening hours:

  • March to October from 09:00 to 18:00 hrs
  • November to February 09:00 to 16:00 hrs (closed Mondays)
