"Education is in constant change – and we actively shape it."
A conversation with Petra Schmidt, Head of Early Childhood Education, about the Pedagogical Day 2025 and the visit to didacta in Stuttgart.
Why are you attending didacta?
As a team, we have decided to spend our Pedagogical Day at didacta because it is the leading education fair. As educators, we want to continue our professional development, discover current trends, and gain new ideas for our daily work. The fair offers an excellent opportunity to attend expert lectures, explore new materials, and be inspired as a team. This applies not only to our educators but also to our dual students.
What impulses do you expect from didacta?
We are particularly looking forward to expert lectures on democracy education, sustainable pedagogy, and digital media. New concepts in language development and physical education are of great interest to us, as they are not only essential for child development but also align with the educational focus of our accadis day-care centers.
How does your team benefit from didacta?
New impulses bring fresh ideas into the everyday life of our day-care centers. They allow us to reflect on established methods, develop them further, and try out new approaches. Our staff can integrate the knowledge they gain directly into their work with the children. In addition, attending the fair together strengthens the team spirit and boosts the motivation of our staff.
What role does professional development play in early childhood education?
A crucial one! Education is constantly evolving, and as professionals, we need to keep up to date. "One step ahead" – is the principle that defines accadis. Only through continuous professional development can we provide the best possible support for our children and meet their individual needs.
What are the highlights and must-sees at didacta?
Definitely the expert talks and workshops, where we can exchange ideas with professionals and learn from each other. We are also particularly excited about the latest innovations in learning games and storytelling. These creative ideas are exactly what will inspire our children. Moreover, this year’s didacta theme – "Democracy needs education, education needs democracy" – aligns perfectly with the values of our family-run institution.
A visit to the fair in the interests of the children
Our visit to didacta is a valuable investment in our children’s future. Through new ideas, modern learning methods, and innovative concepts, we can further enhance our educational work – ensuring that every child receives the best support possible. Only well-qualified and inspired educators can create an environment where children enjoy learning and can develop to their full potential.
