As a freshly certified "Health School", we teach our Elementary School students how to balance everyday school life with the "Class2000" teaching program. Each school year our students in Grades 1 to 4 complete special teaching units in the form of specialist knowledge classes, which give them an understanding of health promotion as well as addiction and violence prevention. Now that the first group has completed four program years, we are permitted to use the teaching program continuously.
Proven positive impact
Combined with the high-quality and age-appropriate catering by our partner FPS Catering, Class2000 forms a useful framework around the lessons. The quality of the program is reflected in various studies. The Institute for Therapy and Health Research (IFT Nord), for example, has found out that children who undergo the Class2000 program, start smoking less often and have less experience with alcohol.
With "Klaro" to more health and self-confidence
A health promoter and the accadis ISB teachers regularly take up topics related to health promotion and violence prevention in their specialist knowledge classes. Accompanied by the symbolic comic figure "Klaro", the Elementary School students work out a balanced way of life. The first year's program included a class breakfast and the "break check", with which the students for two weeks checked whether the food they had brought from home was healthy.
In addition to nutrition, the Class2000 program also focuses on self-confidence, a positive attitude to life and respect for one's own body. Consequently the children of the first group have strengthened their class spirit in team building exercises. In role-play, they practised not to bow to group pressure and to say no to cigarettes and alcohol. They also learned to calm down with "Klaro-breathing" when they are angry or afraid.
Popular teaching program
Class2000 is the most widespread teaching program in Germany for health promotion, addiction and violence prevention in elementary schools. Since the program was launched in 1991, trained health workers and teachers have taught over 1.6 million children. One in seven children in Germany is currently enrolled in the Class2000 program.
