Let there be light! accadis ISB takes the next step towards sustainability and protecting the environment. The extension of the accadis ISB building received LEDs for its lighting system. Also the two-storey addition to the left-hand building section will be equipped with LEDs.
LEDs have a long life cycle with about 25,000 hours of light. At the end of their lifetime they do not just turn off as the old light bulbs did. Instead the intensity of the LED-lights slowly fades. Only about two out of one million LEDs stop functioning earlier time. High-quality-LEDs such as the ones installed in the ISB extension building guarantee a maintenance-freedom for years.
ISB will save a high amount of electricity: In comparison with light bulbs or energy-saving-lamps, LEDs ensure more lumen (luminous intensity) by using far less watt. Simultaneously, LEDs illuminate rooms evenly. ISB uses LEDs with cold white light which provide an environment which supports students’ concentration.
LEDs do not contain harmful ingredients such as mercury and do not radiate UV or infrared light. Though LEDs are electronic waste, most of their raw material can be recycled. Also there is less heat development by LEDs than by the old light bulbs.
Thus, an important step towards protecting the environment and sustainability has been taken by accadis ISB.
