Classrooms instead of offices: accadis Bildung, the umbrella organization for accadis Hochschule and accadis International School Bad Homburg, has assumed ownership of the office building located at Bad Homburg's SÜDCAMPUS, which formerly housed Ameropa and the Haier company. The 5,250 m² area now provides space for the accadis ISB Secondary School as well as the students of accadis Hochschule - University of Applied Sciences.
No stone is left unturned: Core renovation already in full swing
The core renovation is already in full swing. Walls, ceilings and floors have been torn out, laying the foundation for the building shell. In addition to numerous classrooms and specialist rooms, a large library, a cafeteria and a spacious theater and music area are being created in the former offices. The Secondary School students can also look forward to a 1,000 m² outdoor area. The accadis Hochschule students will also benefit from the conversion: they will have their own library in the new building, which will be accessible 24/7, as well as a spacious "Student Bistro". Another highlight for everyone involved: the so-called "accadium" - an event space for up to 250 visitors with adjoining changing rooms, a backstage area and foyer.
Move at the start of the new school year
The move of the Secondary School is planned for August. The resulting space will be used for accadis ISB's ever-growing Elementary School. Until then, Managing Partner and building owner Prof. Christoph Kexel has a lot of plans: The existing stairwell does not have the width required for a school, so a second stairwell will be built in the building. A "drive-through" is also planned to ensure safe drop-off and pick-up of students. The adjacent university building will be connected to the new building to allow students, faculty and administrative staff to move conveniently between the buildings.
Other innovations: Floating sports hall and nature playground
Plans have already been made for a project after the move: in cooperation with the city of Bad Homburg, a second sports hall is planned for the accadis campus. The new sports hall is to hover above the existing sports field, thus resembling "a landed UFO" - as Prof. Christoph Kexel describes the design. The second sports hall will also be available to Bad Homburg clubs in the evenings and to accadis Hochschule students on weekends.
For the school's younger children, we also recently added a nature playground across the street from accadis ISB, where outdoor lessons take place, nature projects are carried out, and there is space to play and romp.
