Secondary School students impress with unique artwork

art exhibition accadis isb cultural identityIn this year's art exhibition, Grade 12 students of accadis International School (accadis ISB) presented their works of the past two years to an enthusiastic audience. The exhibition is part of the final examination of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the subject “Visual Arts”.

The challenging and creative course in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

A group of students from accadis ISB chose Visual Arts as one of their subjects in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). The IB DP leads to a university entrance qualification recognized both in Germany and worldwide. The subject of Visual Arts goes far beyond "painting": the curriculum includes topics such as artistic identity, artistic expression, historical and cultural influences, and the use of media to communicate ideas. The art exhibition is an official part of the IB DP examination and accounts for 40% of the overall grade.

Expressive paintings and a proud teacher

Art-Exhibition-accadis-isb-visual-art Aquarelle collages, acrylic paintings, a triptych (a three-part painting), carefully designed wooden boxes, as well as works made from clay, impasto paste, pigment powder, beeswax and damar resin: the young artists have created unique and expressive artworks within the last two years. Art teacher Stalina Arnold is proud of her protégés: "Each and every one of them has developed their own distinctive style during this time and some of the students spent every spare minute in the art room. I'm always impressed by how creative the students are and how much heart and soul they put into each piece of art. It's great to be able to encourage the students individually and watch the artwork come to life. The results always make me incredibly proud as an art teacher and the exhibition is a highlight for me every year!"

Deep themes such as "Desire", "Cultural Identity", "Loss" or "Transience and Decay"

"Some of the students chose very personal themes, such as "Desire," "Cultural Identity," "Loss" or "Transience and Decay," for their artworks, and I got to know them very differently as a result," Arnold adds.

Inauguration of the event space in the new school building

The art show was the first official event in the "accadium," the industrial-style event location in the new school building ONEaccadis. Thanks to the great artworks, this was definitely an event to remember.
