The smiling faces of Rebecca (Grade 6) and Yoonha (Grade 5) reveal the pride they feel for their creative works - "The Gnome Who Saved Christmas for Marie" and "The Ice Rose." These two students happily present the fairy tales that they created - stories which fill hearts with magic and fantasy.
The City of Bad Homburg Fairy Tale Competition
The city of Bad Homburg regularly organizes a writing competition for creative storytellers of fairy tales. This year’s theme was "Stars of hope for Bad Homburg." Numerous students from the accadis International School Bad Homburg (accadis ISB) and other schools participated in the competition this year and wrote enchanting fairy tales.
All the fairy tales that made it to the final selection, can be found on the
website of the Christmas town Bad Homburg (in German), adorned by fitting illustrations. Among the final fairy tales, the most beautiful stories were honored by rewarding the young storytellers with an audio recording of their own fairy tale. Additionally, their fairy tales are exhibited at various locations in Bad Homburg during the Advent season.
Talented fairy tale storytellers at accadis ISB
Out of the total 60 selected tales, 23 were submitted by students from accadis International School. "I am delighted that so many wonderful tales have been created by our students. It shows how much imagination the children have and how well they can write and tell stories," states Janina Sparks, Head of School. "Among them are also some children whose first language is not German. That makes me particularly proud."
From accadis ISB, Yoonha and Rebecca were amongst the students whose enchanting fairy tales were chosen for recording. Yoonha is in Grade 5 and her family comes from Korea. In her tale, "
The Ice Rose", she plunged into new worlds with ice roses. Rebecca from Grade 6 grows up with three native languages: German, English and Italian. In her tale, "
The Gnome Who Saved Christmas for Marie", she discovered an enchanted coin and met helpful gnomes.
