On Friday, 18 July 2014, we eventually inaugurated our new sports hall at accadis ISB after a building period of about nine months. The 400 square meter hall has got the most up to date equipment. Among equipment for all classic sports (ball sports, athletics, gymnastics, etc.) our students can also make use of a special “Kjub set”. Its design is related to the sports “Parkour”. An obstacle course can be set up to train various motor skills. In addition, changing rooms for students as well as coaches, a first aid room, (disabled) toilets and showers are completing the equipment. In addition, there is a removable stage that can be used for school performances. On the first floor there is an additional room of 100 square meters that can be used for training purposes. There is a state of the art sound and light system that can be controlled via iPad. The system is also able to register who is currently using the sports hall and how much water and electricity has been used. The locking system is working via key cards like in a hotel room. This is how the light can be controlled as well – it only works if the key card is placed in its slot. The sports hall is used by accadis students during the day. From 4 pm to 10 pm it is used by local sports clubs.
During the opening ceremony we welcomed numerous guests of honour: Members of the City of Bad Homburg such as Holger Fritzel, Michael Korwisi, Karl Heinz Krug, Beate Fleige, Dieter Kraft, Wolfgang Assmann and member of the German Olympic Academy and lawyer Sylvia Schenk. Furthermore, members of the executive board of the Taunussparkasse Markus Franz and Oliver Klink donated 1,000 Euros for our new sports hall. Thank you very much indeed!
