In times of Corona,
accadis International School Bad Homburg awards their High School diplomas, featuring
a live link directly into the living room of family and friends.
On Friday, 29.05.2020, students of the third accadis
International School Bad Homburg (accadis ISB) graduating class in the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) were awarded their High
School Diplomas. To include parents, family and friends at home in times of
Corona, the event was broadcast via a live link, making good use of the
school’s state-of-the-art digital equipment.
Diploma
awarded in “caps and gowns” on site and worldwide simultaneously
Maintaining a safe distance, Grade 12 students changed
into the traditional caps and gowns and proceeded to the accadis ISB drama room,
cheered on by their teachers. They were accompanied by Janina Sparks, Head of
School, homeroom teacher Nils Müller and accadis ISB Managing Directors, Gerda
Meinl-Kexel and Professor Dr. Christoph Kexel. Once seated, families and
friends of the graduates from near and far partook in the ceremony via a large
screen, at least virtually.
In their speeches, Janina Sparks and Nils Müller
praised the motivation and stamina of the graduates and emphasized that theirs
was not an easy task, especially in the challenging times of Corona. "We
are happy that our graduates can experience a traditional graduation ceremony
even in these times", said Janina Sparks. "Despite the unfamiliar
situation of the past few months, the students prepared themselves very well for
their future studies and the globalized job market with their high-quality
international school education during the past few years ".
With a humorous video review, the graduates were
able to look back on their early school days. The Grade 12 students themselves
had the final say. Student Kiara provided a deeply reflective insight into the recent
school years of the Class of 2020, and of the highs and lows experienced by her
graduation class.
Globally
recognized university entrance qualification
For 50 years, schools worldwide have been teaching
the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Programmes. In 2016 accadis
ISB successfully completed the demanding IB accreditation process and is now
one of 5284 IB World Schools in 158 countries. "The IB Diploma enjoys a strong
reputation at universities in Germany and around the world for its academic
standards," says Professor Dr. Christoph Kexel, Managing Partner of
accadis ISB. "As an IB World School we provide a high-quality, demanding
and international school education".
