Goals and Objectives of the Project
Climate change impacts all areas of life – especially educational institutions, which bear a special responsibility to society. accadis ISB not only aims to respond to current challenges but also strives to be a leader in sustainable thinking and action.
To develop an integrated climate adaptation concept that prepares the school for climatic changes while serving as a model for other institutions.
Project Objectives:
- Strengthening climate resilience: Protecting against extreme weather events such as heat, drought, heavy rainfall, flooding, and strong winds.
- Promoting sustainable solutions: Implementing nature-based measures such as green roofs, green façades, and unsealing of surfaces.
- Enhancing safety: Protecting students, staff, and infrastructure through innovative adaptation strategies.
Core Project Content:
- Inventory and Analysis: An inventory with the target group is conducted, and buildings, open spaces, as well as climate risks, are examined.
- Action Plan: Planning nature-based and technical solutions, such as green roofs, improved drainage systems, and shaded learning areas with pavilions.
- Sustainability Assessment: Evaluating the ecological, social, and economic impacts of planned measures.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Developing a system to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the implemented measures.

The project is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) under the focus area: FSP 1 – Development of concepts for sustainable adaptation to the climate crisis.
